Insurance question

I'll try to keep this as short and sweet as I can. Here's our situation:

We are relocating to another city (job promotion) and have decided to rent our home. We just changed our homeowners insurance to cover the structure only. Will my mortgage company know that my home is being rented by me changing my insurance? I'm sorry if that question sounds silly. I'm totally new to this.

I guess what I'm getting at is, does the mortgage company know the details of my homeowners insurance policy or does it just foot the bill for me every year?

Well honestly if you don't want your mortgage company to know about it, posting about it on the internet with your full name and what city you live in isn't a great start plus it sounds like you're flirting with concealing information that you may have signed a contract agreeing to share. I'm not your lawyer so I can't say anything further on this. Believe me though, people like me find out.
