AB 1842 Act - notice served before bill was signed
Hi, I hope someone can help or give me some recommendations. We have been renting one of the unit of triplex to a section 8 family in Long Beach ca for more than 2 years. They r ok tenants but the maintenance is very high as things always break in the unit. Due to the Ab-1842, so we decided to serve them lease termination with 90 days notice on 9/23 before the bill signed. They suppose to move out on 12/23, but recently they said their new rental place is not ready want to extend until 1/1/2020. We agreed and signed the mutual move out agreement with the move out date on 1/3/2020. Today they sent me an email stated under the this tenant protection act, we can’t ask them to leave, they want to extend until feb and ask for two month relocation fee. So my question is are they under the bill protection if the notice served before the bill signed and we also signed the mutual move out agreement? And if we need to pay them two months relocation fee? And if anyone can recommend a attorney to me on this matter so that I can consult an expert, as I am new to this. Thanks a lot.
