Getting rid of rodents

Hi everyone

I've got rodent issues in one of my rentals and could use some expert advice.

My tenant moved in almost 12 months ago and in the last month they got an infestation of mice. I've called the exterminator out as soon as I heard and they have been setting traps and doing other abatement activity, but it doesn't seem to be helping that much.

Now, the tenant is seeing some type of bug that's been biting the kids living there. I'm really stressed about this but don't know what else I can do. If it continues, they'll need to move out but the problem will still be there.

I'm not sure what the next steps are. The pest control service says to let their traps do the work.

Any advice would help out.

Thanks!

Jason is this a stand alone house or an attached house or a duplex, triplex, quad??

If it is attached do you own all the units or the other side??

The rodent infestation could be from another property, alley, etc.

I have seen a hundred mice in a planter before at a commercial property.

Is your property sealed from the outside?? If you have the tiniest of openings they can get through.

Setting traps doesn't stop the breeding. That's a way for pest companies to keep making more and more money.

My mother-in-law had squirrels jumping from the roof getting into the attic. The first week the animal control company set a few traps. Then they wanted a service contract. I told the guy set a trap inside but plug the openings to the outside so no more can get in.

Problem was solved with no contract needed.

Have you performed an inspection of the property lately?? The pest control will not matter if the tenant is not clean. The animals will eat the food, grease, trash instead of the poison. If there is nothing to eat they will ingest the poison and start to stay away.

If you have a connected unit you do not own the problem could reside with those people and not your tenant.
