Black Mold- Does Landlord help Tenant relocate ?

Posted

Hello-

Currently in an apartment where water damage was very apparent a few days ago. Floors had puddles all over them.  A water restoration company assessed the damage, ripped up the floors and drywall and have found excessive amounts of black mold in the kitchen and main hallway. They have industrial fans running in multiple rooms including the bedroom, kitchen and hallway and they are sectioned off with floor to ceiling plastic. The kitchen cabinets are being ripped out so they can treat the mold and the fans will run for 5 days while the water dries out.

Now that you have the background, the question is: Is the landlord responsible to either use insurance money or pay out of pocket to find a new place or hotel fo the tenant to live? Because the cause of the leak is not found yet there is no answer for how long the repairs will take.
