Newbie - Is it worth investing in South Africa right now?

Hi ladies and gents,

I'm just starting out from Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm wondering if anyone on here is currently investing in real estate (rentals) in South Africa at all? I guess my main concern with approaching the market is due to our current political situation - facing the very real possibility of "land expropriation without compensation"... 

Is it really worth a investing here or should I perhaps rather shoot for investing internationally, even though I am completely new to the real estate game and have absolutely no experience?
