Quiet Hours - does that include Laundry?

Posted

My husband and I live above our apartment manager (she is not the owner), and have for the past 2 and a half years, never had any issues. A few weeks ago I vacuumed at 8:30am on a Monday. A few days later as my husband is walking to our apartment the manager sees him and tells him that we cannot vacuum that early because she sleeps in and our quiet hours go until 10am. He apologizes and says it won't happen again. Last night our washer finished at 10:20pm, 20 mins after quiet hours have started. We always do laundry at this time, every unit has it's own washer and dryer. We try to go to sleep but cant because the managers tv is on extremely loud where we could hear the dialog (this has been an issue in the past). I called her and asked her to turn it down a few notches, this is at 10:38pm. She asks how can her tv disturb us when our washer is so loud, I reply everything has been off. She then begins yelling at me that it sounds like our washing is going to crash onto her bed and its so rude of us to run it this late and she is done with it and we will get  written up. She then hangs up the phone. Other than the talk about the vacuum she has never complained about the noise. She was completely unprofessional. I know we only get two write ups before we can be evicted. We do not know the owner, we only interact with the manager, what can we do? This is all out of the blue for us.
