Section 8 - no rent payments
Hello,
We are new to RE investment and this summer we bought our first investment property in North Carolina (we live in WA). We got this via Roofstock and the house already had a Section 8 tenant.
We closed in July and contracted with a management company, which apparently started the paperwork with the housing authority. Apparently the tenant recently got a job so the HA needs to determine the new amount they'll cover. But this has been going on for 3+ months and so far we have not received any rent payments. Whenever I ask the property manager they say this is currently sitting with the HA and that once it gets resolved the HA will pay for all these months.
Is it normal for this to take this long? Anything else I could do to get more clarity?
Thanks

Get in touch with the housing authority directly. My gut feeling is your PM is lazy.
