Rental Advertising and Fair Housing Laws

Asking for clarification on a tenant screening/application issue.  I placed a listing on apartments.com with a minimum fico and income requirement.  They rejected my ad saying that this violated national fair housing laws so I took it down.  However, everywhere I look it says this can be done.  Who's right?
