85% of land is government owned in Las Vegas

With all the desert surrounding Las Vegas, one would think there is an abundant amount of land to bury dead bodies or build new homes. Unfortunately, 85% of the surrounding land is owned by the government. Leaving only 15% privately held. 

I heard that statement a few times, but finally found an article that references the 85% government owned land. See article below, scroll towards the bottom. 

Now, another reason why Las Vegas real estate is going up.

Don’t forget...In that same article the Nevada housing division says we need 210,000 more “units of affordable housing”....

Whatever those are...
