Land/house type issue
I'm looking at buying a multi with a 203k loan. I have a house in mind right now. Pretty good deal in the area I want. The house is being sold as a SF. I saw this house on the market before (6-7 months ago) and it was on the market as a MF (Two family). The seller removed it from the MLS and then put it back as a SF last month. I put in a offer on the house and the listing agent told my agent that the house is a SF. They went to the town to try and change it to a MF but the town gave them a bunch of issues. Not sure what exactly.
The house is set up as your conventional MF would be. 2+ baths and 2 Kitchens. When I did my own research and checked the towns GIS it shows the style of the house as Two-Family, and land use as Two-Family. So I'm not sure where the mix up is.
Also was wondering how this will affect the repairs I want to do to the house. House is in rough shape and needs a lot of renovations. With the price I offered though I should be able to make the repairs I want and still have some equity.
