Sub Metering Water lines

Hello BP I have a couple of questions for you.

We manage a mobile home park and receive two separate water bills. They are Front of park and Rear of park. The existing water lines were installed in the mid 60's and are poly -butyl something. Time to rip them out and throw them away. We have a leak we cannot find and the extra $150 a month for the loss is getting old.

We are going to replace all existing water lines that are owned by the mobile park. At that time we would like to install sub meters and wean folks off of us paying their water bills. My family uses about 3,600 gallons a month. The 9 lots in the rear of the park are using 57,600 gallons a month or 6,400 gallons a month. Time for a change.

Has anyone ever hired a company to divide multiple units on one water meter and sub meter them?

Do you know someone who has dealt with sub-metering?

Do you have any recommendations on who to hire for sub-metering?

Sub-metering when you are doing new mains is simple. Any reasonable plumber can set them up. Make sure they use meter boxes with wide lids and yoke bars/setters so you can change the meter simply if it goes bad or pull it if your tenant doesn't pay (most have eyelets for locking it out but they are soft brass and easily cut). You can get meters at Ferguson, Core & Main, Fortiline.
