Should I pay rent while having rental properties

Hello. I’ve been considering many different paths.  The one I’m most inclined to is buying duplex or triplex and renting the other unit or units, therefore living in one of them.

But my scenario is that I’m actually living in a rented home where I actually pay very low rent because my uncle rents it to me.

Paying 500 first two months and afterwards 700 per month.

So the thing is if I I purchase a property, does it make sense to keep paying rent, and actually rent the property I purchase.

Scenario 1: be it a duplex

Scenario 2: be it a single family home

Any insight is much appreciated
