Section 8 Gossip

Well, that's interesting.

I was talking to my carpet cleaner yesterday and learned that the local housing authority has asked him to drop his cleaning fee by $40 per house because they are broke.

Then he tells me that the HA owes him $4,000 for cleaning and repairs that he did, billed for, and they haven't paid him yet.

He asked around and discovered that they haven't paid any of their venders.

They told him that they will pay him now because they took out an $80,000 loan so they can pay off their venders.

I know that they are still issuing vouchers because I had 3 brand new Section 8 tenants call me just this week.

Typical Section 8 tenants. One thought she could first talk me into taking Section 8 and then talk me into dropping the rent $150 a month so her voucher would cover it.

The next one couldn't understand that "we only do month to month" and "no leases" means that we don't do leases. She tried all sorts of ways to explain it to the thick-headed landlord that I could take her voucher because I could go month to month after the first year and so I wouldn't be doing a lease.

I've got a lot of reasons to not take Section 8. Now I wonder if Section 8 is even going to be paying their landlords if they are too broke to pay their own bills.

Something to think about.

That agreement only applies to payment amount and the rules of Sec 8, my month to month lease still applies. As far as funding, our local HUD is hanging on by a shoe string and doesn't know when more funding is going to be allocated.

Not meaning to hijack, but TOM!?!?!??! where have u been??!???
