Master Electrician, Master Plumber and Master HVAC

I had a contractor come out to a house I just purchased and he told me I needed to have a Master Electrician come out to replace my electrical box and also to do the plumbing, and change out the HVAC. I was under the impression that Master Electricians, Plumbers and HVAC people designed stuff for commercial applications and supervised apprentices and Journeyman Electricians. He also said I needed a Master Plumber. As far as the plumbing I am just taking out Horizontal metal pipe and replacing it with Pex. He also said I needed a Master Carpenter to frame out an enclosed atrium. Am I wrong about this? I think the guy was looking for a payday.

Master, Journeyman,  etc., are union titles. You need Licensed Plumber, electrician, hvac guys that can pass an inspection and pull permits to be legit.
