I have tenant who has electricity under his name and I have sign landlord contract with electricity company.

My question if tenant stops paying his bill Question:

Electricity is under tenant name but will get defaulted to me if doesn’t pay it.

So my question is what to do in this situation if he is not paying electricity and it get defaulted under my name can I legally tell electricity provider to disconnect electricity while tenant is living there as this is due to his fault not paying his bill for electricity and I have nothing to do with it.

thx/

I'd call power company and find out for sure what they do in this case.. In my instance the power is cut off to non-paying tenant and that bill remains theirs.. they cannot collect that amount from me..

The power is then restarted in my name as owner and I'm responsible until I get new tenant for the power bill.

I'd give the non-paying tenant notice for cure,, to pay his electric bill or I would file for eviction.

Any electricity he would owe me for, as in the interim I would include on his move out security deposit charge sheet..
