Am I really violating my screening criteria?
I thought I did such a good job creating some solid screening criteria for applicants for my SFH in Milwaukee. And now I kinda have to violate them!
So I have a family wanting to rent my SFH in Milw. The two 'primary' applicants (parents) have more than sufficient income. My screening criteria required an application from each adult who will be living in the house. So . . their 2 adult children - both attending college locally - technically had to complete an application. I didn't see the problem at first. But now that I'm really starting the screening process . .
The 'kids' can't meet some of the other criteria: "you must have prior rental history". and questionable whether the adult kids have any kind of credit history; at 21 and 19 y/o.
How do you handle families with adult children - when the kids really are not "applicants". In this case, I kinda see the adult children as "other occupants" and not as "applicants". They are just tagging along since the parents are selling their house! (they want to live 'debt free').
And on a side note . . . I'm a bit leary of having 5 adults (ok - 1 16 y/o almost adult) living in my small 3 bdrm; 1.5 bath - 1130 sq. ft house!
appreciate your thoughts
