Need copy of leases from PM

Hi BPers,

I'm a property owner and my units are managed by a property management company and I have asked for a copy of the leases. But the PM is hesitant because she says the lease is a trade fixture and thats why she is so successful. The main reason I want to have a copy of the lease is knowing when leases are ending, need to be renewed, amount of rent, etc., and I would like to have the documentation on hand as a property owner. Before we hired the property management I was able to review the lease documentation and had no issues with it.

Even though I don't even live in the same state where the properties are located, I thought this was a reasonable request. In the trade of property management, is this normal? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
