To all the female investors!!!
To all the amazing women investors on BP! My name is Jenny Cunningham from FL, I started investing in real estate about 2 years ago with my partner (male) and have mainly focused on doing flips while recently looking to get into the rental market as well. As I'm sure you all know being a female in the investing world has its challenges of which I have faced with many with people not showing me the same respect as my partner receives. I did some quick searches but can't find any groups directed to women investors and I want to see if anyone is interested in a female group chat where we can bounce ideas, questions or anything to do with the investing world and help each other out! I think it would be very beneficial for the less experienced investors to get a chance to talk to the experienced investors and hear some of the challenges they have been able to overcome as a female investor. Hoping this can help everyone from the beginner to some of the most experienced. If you're interested please comment here or send me a quick message. I'd love to hear from everyone!!
this a great idea. for the life of me I don't know why contractors do not respect women as much as men if they see the woman knows what she wants and how she wants it done and how much it should cost. apparently that's not her first time doing it!
@Jenny Cunningham- way to take charge! I'm in.
Count me in as well Jenny!!
Love the idea, count me in for sure!
Jenny Cunningham count me in. I'm looking for experienced investors to help me get my business off the ground.
I love this idea! Thank you!
Awesome idea, count me in!
Count me in, I have no Investing experience, but loads of Life experience. I am available to help those who need some encouragement. I hope to jump in and do some deals this year, the sooner the better. I am 'retired' and looking for a Female Mentor who knows the So. Cal Market. I am IN for the women led group!
I am not, nor ever plan to be a Facebook user, which excludes my interaction with you ladies there.
While unfortunate in some ways, I will remain here on BP soaking up all that I can from both genders.
I hope you all continue to share your wisdom and experiences here on BP!!
Why not? The more ideas, the better (regardless of gender). But I'm game.
Yes I'm in!
Sounds like a great idea Im in!
I am just in the beginning stages and looking to connect with other women in this industry, so count me in!

Count me in!! Great idea!
@Jenny Cunningham I am interested.
I'm interested!
@Jenny Cunningham Hi. I've been away from Biggerpockets for a while. But I did try to start a women's group. Unfortunately many of us couldn't ever find the time to get together. I'm still interested and while I'm still in the Orlando area, I'd love to connect with you. I am relocating in a month to California, but would still be interested.
Sonia I have that book and LOVE IT. It's definitely a must read.

I think that's a great idea. My business partner is female also. I will make a suggestion of a great book. The author attended my REIA for a while and I really enjoyed talking with her as a newbie starting up because she was so encouraging. The book is "Sun Tzu for Women: The Art of War for Winning in Business" by Becky Sheetz-Runkle. On Amazon. I found it really enlightening as it points out how the problem is often inside your head to begin with and affects how you present yourself to others. Chapter 5 on "Respect from the inside" is very helpful. I work on this on a daily basis. Yes maybe initially others may start out thinking your are "just a woman" but be patient with them and show them how your handle yourself with integrity and industry. You don't have to know everything but show that you know how to ask good questions and find answers. Just be patient while others overcome their false assumptions....they are the ones with a problem. Or if they don't, they will begin to look stupid to others who see your growing contributions and value. Anyway, a great read. I go back and re-read sections when I need a boost.
This is just my own opinion: Over the years, I have been invited to many different women's groups and I simply never had any interest, because I see myself as a real estate investor, regardless of my gender.
Yes, there can be drawbacks to being a woman and there can be benefits, but overall, I believe it all balances out. Some sellers rather deal with a woman, some prefer a man. Yes, subs may not always think you're competent and quote accordingly and others will bend over backwards and do little things, without charging, because you're a woman.
I'm just very straight forward and I deal with mostly men in regards to subcontracting and really don't see any reason for me to separate myself from them.
Count me in! Great idea!!
Is this group up and running.. I'm new to the party.
