Termite Tenting - California

A few weeks ago, I finished a renovation on a small 4-plex in Dana Point that I purchased late last year. During the renovation, my GC pointed out a few spots where there were termites swarming/old termite damage. It was nothing major so we just repaired, spot treated for the time being, and moved on.

Normally, on top of the spot treatment during the renovation, I would have tented the building after the renovation was complete, just for good measure. However, the construction ran about a week late and I had tenants that were lined up to move in the day the renovation was complete so I did not tent the building.

One of the tenants recently pointed out an area in his unit where there appears to be some termite activity. I would like to tent the building so the issue does not come up again in the future. I know that I will have to either credit the tenants the rent for the days while the building is being tented or put them up at an-extended stay type motel that has a kitchen/kitchenette in the rooms.

However, I am not certain of how many days' notice I am required to give the tenants for the tenting. I have gotten mixed results via my own research and inquiry of other landlords in the area.

Aside from the usual, "ask your attorney" type responses, does anyone know how many days' notice a landlord is required to give a tenant for tenting for termites? Dana Point, California specifically.

Thanks.
