Do Belongings Need to Be Returned?

Posted

I own a condo in FL that I rent out & the HOA foreclosed on past due HOA fees. Now, several months later my renter called & said the locks were changed on the unit. I called the association & they said that they now own the unit & all the contents & they weren't going to let anyone in to claim the furniture, items. They later let the renter in to get some personal effects, but wouldn't let her get the furniture.

Is this legal? I thought in an eviction they had to put everything out.

One other note, I never received any notices saying they were evicting me. They may have posted notices on the door, but the renter took a month long vacation & so she didn't receive anything wither.

Do I have any legal standing to get in there & get the furniture? I don't want the renter to sue me for the items.

Thanks much!
