Appliance In Lieu of Renters Deposit

Would any of you recommend that the tenant replace an appliance in the rental house instead of putting up a deposit amount? This is new turf for me since my oven went out and the tenant offered to replace it in lieu of the lease deposit. And, then take it once the lease is over...
