Not trying to push you off but search this site for duplex, triplex or whatever your target property is. Read as much as you can find and then start coming back with specific  questions.  Until you have read up and know what goes into cash flow etc it is a really broad question you are asking.

you need to know the taxes in your area, insurance ratios, vacancy rates , going rent rates , etc. figure out who you want to cater to and start asking them what they like.
