City bans conversions to rental properties

I haven't hear of this before but the city of Cedar Falls Iowa is implementing a six month ban on home owners turning their house into a rental property.  The ban can be extended for up to a year.  Interesting, seems like that would cause rents to increase and hurt renters as well as limit home owners' options and stymie investors.
