NJ Month to Month Lease Termination
Happy new year everyone.
Is it easy enough to terminate a month to month lease in 1 of the units in 3 family house that is not owner occupied?
Location : Weehawken, NJ.
Issues: has been difficult with this tenant forever. tenant is not paying increased rent from the last 2 months even after increased rent letter sent by normal and signed mail, is ignoring texts & phone calls apart from other issues like having pet in non pet unit, parking bike in side alley etc.
If so, can I do it on my own or need a lawyer for it?
Do I need to provide all the reasons in the letter?
Thanks.. Mike

month to month, year to year... More or less. What is "reasonable" terms is not well defined. Anyway, that's why NJ is a tenant friendly state and you don't hear about it much... lol
Its a much different "environment/style" that what I see portrayed on the boards. :)
The issue with the OP is that the tenant hasn't acknowledged the rent increase AND is still paying the prior rent amount. He really needs legal advice on how to proceed. It won't be fun...
