How long after move-in for Conditions of Premises form?

Brad Bell
Posted

I am a first time landlord. After moving out of my townhome and then working my butt off for the 48 hours to get the unit ready before the tenant move-in I forgot to give them the Conditions of Premises form to fill out. How long do I have to give them this form? They have now been occupying the property for 11 days. Should I stop by today and drop the form off for them to fill out? I am worried that it might end up coming back to haunt me if I don't.

@Brad Bell welcome to BP! The sooner the better for sure or you may have problems demonstrating why you are entitled to holding back any portion of the security deposit. We do it when we turn over the keys. Often with a video with the tenant participating. All the best!
