How often do you refinish decks?
I’ve heard that for non covered every 4-5 years and for covered 6-7. That sound right? Curious what others due in terms of frequency of checking decks for loose nails, damaged plans etc as well.

Yeah it depends too much....on climate, material and finish used. Trex or similar will go quite a while. Basic Doug Fir with a cheap finish maybe 2 years. Id spend the bucks on the finish/sealant if I had to choose. I've built (uncovered) decks in the desert and just used a real expensive sealer, recoated every spring, and after 10+ years, still going strong...
