Fair Housing Act and Advertising

I assume it is against the law to advertise to specific categories. For example; Limiting to single or married over 55 years with no kids (probably hit several protected groups there). However, can you ask if family and friends know anyone interested on social media before advertising to the general public, or would that be considered advertising?
