Dormant flea problems
Long story short I just evicted a tenant that left a dog behind. The house is infested and the dog is gone. Pest control has been out 4 times so far in the past 4-5 weeks to spray. Fleas remain. We have vacuumed and shampooed the carpets several times since the tenant/dog left 5-6 weeks ago.
Pest control has explained that the remaining fleas are sterile and they aren't dying because they house is vacant. When vacant, the fleas go dormant until they sense a meal. The advice I am being given is drive them out of hibernation by paying to have someone go by once a day for 5 days and vacuum.
I've read that fleas can go dormant for up to 2 years and can't even begin to market this rental until this is taken care of. Anyone have any tips or tricks for me? Or been through a similar situation?
