CMHA in Columbus Ohio
Hi All,
Hope everyone is doing well this evening. Currently working with my property manager in Columbus and the tenant I inherited is under a CMHA program. I wanted to know that if anyone has any recent experience with this program? Apparently there is a switch going on in that department that is making communication extremely difficult. I wanted to know if this is something happening across the board for all section 8 programs in Columbus as I'm currently in the search for filling a unit with a section 8 tenant but my PM is telling me it's very difficult right now. Would appreciate any inputs. Thanks in Advance,
James

Your PM is 100% telling the truth. It is very much indeed a difficult time to fill a unit with section 8 in Columbus. I personally own a single family I rent with section 8. Thankfully I put the tenant in place prior to this happening. If you have section 8 tenants they are paying rent no problem still. Section 8 is in the middle of a big change. Everything is getting transferred over and outsourced to a company called CGI in Canada. The aftermath is a lot of people have lost their jobs at CMHA and they are working on getting CGI up and running and are a bit slow to respond. According to the CMHA board president Stan Harris "CMHA is to save about 1.2 M which will allow them to leverage 5 Million to bring 330 more housing units to Columbus in the next 10 years".
