Ditch insurance keep liability

Hi all,

I have a couple homes owned outrite, that were very inexpensive and am now paying steep homeowner insurance rates in south fl. Wondering, has anyone found a way to keep liability only on their rental property? My agent says ins co. wont do that. Any input appreciated
