How to file Wage Garnishment

Jin Park
Posted

Hi BiggerPockets,

I have recently filed an eviction and tenant has already fled to who knows where. This tenant owes a lot of money. How do I file wage garnishment or recover unpaid payments from this tenant? All I have is his government ID (Driver License and Social).

Please help!!

I would turn this over to a collection agency. They will take a % of any funds recovered BUT they do all of the leg work and locate the person. We have had a lot of success using this method. These agencies have resources that you don't have to locate people and getting some of the money back is better than nothing. Good luck!
