Downstairs tenant complaints

Kwab Mireku
Posted

Please help me resolve this, I have been getting constant complaints from downstairs tenants about noise from upstairs. This is a multi family building. The tenant upstairs tenant has a young child who plays during the day which contributes to the loud noise. Has anyone encountered anything like this? If yes, how did you resolve this.

@Kwab Mireku I tell tenants that they have to work it out between them. If the noise is during quiet hours I will issue a lease violation. If it is really loud I tell the tenants to notify the police (re:parties). You can require area rugs upstairs if the hard surface floor is carrying noise. You can opt to let ths lower tenant out of the lease if it becomes a big issue.
