Tenant requesting to allow guest for 30 days!!
Hi all,
I have a tenant asking me to allow his guest to stay for 30 days. This is for the unit they are renting in a triplex house in Massachusetts . According to the lease, it states guest are allowed to stay for 10 consecutive days or 15 days in 60 day period. I would like to hear what other fellow landlords have done in similar situation, should I allow the guest to stay for 30 days or should I tell my tenant, their guest can stay 15 days max. It appears to me guest is having some issue and my tenant wants to keep guest until they resolve the issues. I am afraid this guest might be staying in the apartment for longer than 30 days.
Let me your thoughts!
Thanks,

@Yuzi Stha In these situations, we ask the tenant to provide a drivers license photo of the guest as well as have them complete a short form of our application so they can be screened. We don't typically run credit but we will do a criminal background check on them. We haven't had anyone refuse so far. We don't charge them extra unless the owner is paying utilities at the property. We let them know we require this for the safety and security of the owners property. Once the 30 days (or whatever) is up, we follow up and make sure the guest hit the road as promised.
