Any success stories of paying off debts?

Lauren Bennett

Hey guys!

I’m a writer and I’m currently working on an article about how to pay off debt, while on a low income.

Just wondered if anyone wanted to share their success stories with paying off debts?

Include what you did and give specific numbers if possible! :)

Thanks!

Hi Lauren,

Real quickly- I paid off $87k of consumer and family debt in 40 months on a low income.

I worked a lot and had no car payments because I drove beaters.  I brown bagged my lunch and brewed my own coffee. I didn't see the inside of a restaurant unless it was my 3rd job.

I avoided malls, clubs, convenience stores and the latest phones, clothes and movies. I didn't do salons.  I didn't overdraft my account or get a payday loan.  I also didn't buy lottery tickets.

I had a tv antennea only and borrowed movies and tv shows from the library.  Same with audio books.  I listened to information and motivation and podcasts, not the same music over and over.

I also read books. Christmas was a craft.  A date was a walk in the park.  My life was still full and meaningful.  None of the stuff I 'sacrificed' was even missed, especially now that I've been debt-free since 2015.  I applied the same principals against a bunch of rentals and paid those off, too.  It can be done!
