Has anybody had a recent experience with Kolodij Tax?

Hello BP community, I was wondering if anybody has had a recent experience with Kolodij Tax And Consulting. This would be my second year working with them. I uploaded all my documents for 2020 income taxes to their portal, paid half their fee as agreed, however they haven't filed my income taxes. I sent a few emails to @Natalie Kolodij and left several voicemails asking for a status on our filing, however, I have yet to receive any response.

I first found out about @kolodij tax and consulting thru this medim as @Natalie Kolodij is an active member of the BP community, and has even been a podcast guest speaker.

I'd love to hear any other BP members feedback in regards to their experience with this company. Thank you and I look forward to your comments.

Hi Mario. My experience with her has been absolutely TERRIBLE. And I recommend that no one use her. She ignored numerous emails last year and failed to respond timely to questions that I had that would have saved me tens of thousands. I only found this out after speaking to another tax preparer. Eventually, I had a phone call with her where I voiced my frustrations and she said that she’d fix the issues. I trusted her because I wanted the best for both of us in the situation. However, nothing changed. And then 3 days before the tax deadline I received an email saying she couldn’t file my taxes on time. That annoyed me so much that not only would I miss out on tax benefits, but now I had to figure out how to do my taxes myself. She still has not issued a refund to me, and I may consider legal action against her for not following a single line of our contract. Do not recommend her to anyone

Mario - Natalie Kolodij should be removed from BiggerPockets.

I am in the same boat as Kyle, she didn't follow through on anything she said she would do. She strung me along saying my taxes were being worked on but they were not.  I paid half her fee, had two phone calls with her during the year and then received the email stating that she couldn't finish my personal 2021 taxes six (6) days before they were do.  Quote "I'm flying out of the country tomorrow. I booked a flight last year before knowing how bad this tax season would be."

She still hasn't filed my Oregon business return, quote "it looks like there are several local filings as well for the county and Portland.  This is something I haven't encountered before - many states don't require a filing when rentals generate a loss by default but it looks like Oregon still does.  I can get this generated but it's going to take me a bit and I'll likely consult with a local CPA to ensure it's set up correctly since it's so localized and I'm not likely to encounter it again."  I am still waiting...

It is to my understanding that she doesn't prepare the filings either, she has someone else do them and then signs off on them.  I don't think she is a CPA.  There were so many errors on my other business taxes she wanted to file, which after reviewing with another CPA, I made her change.  One example is that she wanted to classify interest income I receive due to a sale of my business as regular income which then subjected me to self-employment tax.  I have a coworker who used her and she was going to blow his 1031 exchange opportunity which was going to result in a five (5) figure tax bill.  She is reckless and I can't recommend her either...

How does a tax professional blow a 1031 exchange? They have nothing to do with an exchange. Agent, lender, qualified intermediary all have hands in a 1031 but your tax pro shouldn't.
