Seeking Recommendations for Tax Strategist and Preparer

I'm on the lookout for a tax strategist and tax preparer who specializes in working with small real estate investors, particularly those focused on buy and hold strategies. My properties are located in Indiana and Michigan. It would be ideal if they have experience with cost segregation and, preferably, also invest in real estate themselves.

If you have any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

    Hi Ignacio and welcome to the forums! I would recommend finding one of the many tax advisors that are active in the forums and conducting a mutual interview to see if it would be a good fit. You can also use the BP feature above "Build your investing Team" to connect with a tax professional. The biggest thing to look for is their competence in real estate taxation and ensuring it would be a good relationship.

    @Ignacio Vidal Traver Take all of the time, energy and resources you plan to pour into tax strategies and invest that into your real estate and real estate operations. I promise you will make out better than diverting your resources and attention at this stage as a self described small investor. The biggest mistake investors in your shoes make is over complicating everything other than the underlying real estate and this often leads to bad real estate & operational decisions.

    You came to the right place. A good real estate accountant can save you thousands of dollars by leveraging entity selection and formation, tax deductions, cost segregations, bonus depreciation and tax planning.

    I recommend finding an accountant who specializes in real estate taxation and tax planning.

    You may want to consider working with your accountant remotely to expand your options.

    I would also recommend looking for a accountant willing to work with you throughout the year. You want an accountant who can help you strategize and who is responsive when you want to know the consequences of the financial decisions you are making throughout the year.

    There are over 20 real estate accountants on this site. Reach out to a few, see who you like and see if they are accepting new clients. We are not allowed to solicit clients.
