Looking for a Mentor in Real Estate Investing!

Nathaniel Linn
Posted

Hey everyone,

I’m currently stationed in Hawaii, and I’ve been in the military for over a decade. I'm starting to think about life after service and I’m really                  interested in getting into real estate, specifically long-term rentals in the multifamily and single family space.

Despite my military background giving me plenty of discipline and determination, real estate is a whole new battlefield for me, and I could               really use some guidance from someone who’s been in the trenches. I’m hoping to find a mentor who can help me figure out the basics and           get a solid start.

If anyone’s up for sharing their wisdom, or has any tips on where I should focus first, I’d really appreciate it. Here’s what I bring to the table:

  1. -A strong work ethic and the dedication to soak up everything I can about real estate.
  2. -Respect for your time and experience.
  3. -A whole lot of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn by doing.
  4. Here’s what I’m hoping to learn:

-Basics of investing in multifamily and single-family properties.

-How to analyze markets to find profitable rental properties.

-Property management strategies for long-term rentals.

  5. Also, I’m willing to do any remote work related to property management or other tasks, as long as I can fit it around my military schedule. I'm all about learning by doing, so I'm ready to help out wherever I can to gain hands-on experience.

Thanks a lot for reading this, and I’m looking forward to any advice you can throw my way. Excited to hopefully meet some of you and                      eventually help out others here too!

@Brian Sardinskas thank you for the response. I have looked into that strategy and may peruse purchasing a multi family house with my VA loan and after a year move out and refinance. However being married with two children it would have to be a perfect scenario. With this being said I am not a complete newbie to this space. I've listened to 100s of hrs of podcasts and have done 100s of hrs of research. I am looking for someone I can bounce questions off of and have conversations about real estate.
