Looking for a CPA

Member since 2023 · 2 posts · 3 votes

I am currently looking for a CPA with at least some experience in real estate. It would need to be in Northern Virginia, preferably close to Fairfax/Burke/Springfield area. I have a very small and simple operation at the moment, so looking for someone reasonably priced.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Zeni

    Hey @Zeni Shehaj,

Given we are accountants, we cannot promote our services on BP as its against the rules.

We are based in Manassas Virginia and are accepting just a few more clients for 2023 though :P

    To help in your search:

be sure to find an accountant who is willing to grow with you, and is not too high priced fee-wise. Not too low either, you don't want to go with someone who is just focused on price as this is a quality of a not-so-great accountant. Accountants are in such demand, that the best are not even accepting clients half the time.

The other problem I see often with accountants on here is that they specialize in larger investors, and have really high prices when you as a smaller investor do not need all the bells and whistles.

Another thing I see is folks thinking they need to have a tax professional in their state. We as a firm have investors working with us who have rental properties all over the US big and small.

Finding a real estate-focused tax professional and one who can help with advisory and grow with you would be my suggestion to focus your efforts on finding. Best of luck in your search!

    @Zeni Shehaj

I don't think the location of the CPA matters provided that they have a solid background in Real Estate and software/tools to support you remotely.

There are 20+ real estate CPAs commenting in this forum. Pick one that is commenting on your specific situation and DM them.

Your profile mentions that you have ownership of an LLC.

If it is a multi-member LLC, be mindful that there is a partnership filing obligation by March 15

@Zeni Shehaj are you wiling to find a CPA outside of the Northern Virginia area? Like others have mentioned, the location of your CPA is not as important as their experience in real estate. Nowadays, many qualified CPAs offer their services remotely. Hopefully this will help you find your best match!

Good luck and happy tax season!

I can give you a recommendation for a Tyson's Corner based accountant, feel free to DM. I do not get paid to promote them, you could at least have a conversation with them and see how you feel. Best of luck!
