Using Fidelity self directed IRA

Has anyone been able to invest in RE using a Fidelity self directed IRA?

I want to invest in a private placement, but Fido says I can only buy from their list (I can ask them to vet a pp for their list, but you need at least $1 mm with them).

I would love to be able to diversify my retirement funds, as I'm overexposed to stocks and bonds.

I work on Wall Street, so my only account options are with Fidelity or with my employer, who is even more limited in options.

Thanks!

Kelly, with the truly self-directed Solo 401k plan you can have brokerage account at Fidelity. You can then use it to invest in equities as well as alternative assets. In this case Fidelity will not be your custodian, your plan assets are held in a 401k trust.
