Need assistance (please).
I am considering transferring a portion of a prior (traditional) IRA to a self directed IRA in order to participate in a private placement for commercial real estate.
After reading forums/reviews for all of the SDIRA providers, I am thoroughly confused regarding (a) which provider, if any, I should choose; (b) whether or not the SDIRA is the best vehicle.
The investment would consist on an initial cash outlay, and quarterly distributions thereafter. Hold period likely 2 years.
I've researched through the forums, and know that a lot of the experts here recommend the Solo 401k instead of a SDIRA, but given that this will be a "passive" investment (i.e. just collecting quarterly distributions), I am not sure if the cost of setting up the "Solo-K" is worth it, but I am receptive to obtaining feedback if I am off-base.
Thanks in advance for your input, I look forward to any/all advice/insight -
John
