Hey

My name is Will, I need a tax pro to help me with tax preparations. Both personal and business taxes. I need someone to use on a continuous basis and build a business relationship with. I live in Ca, do RE business in Wisconsin and North Carolina. Location does not matter, however local to southern CA is a plus.

@Will Seaman

I recommend finding an accountant who specializes in real estate taxation, business taxation, tax planning and financial planning.

You may want to consider working with your accountant remotely to expand your options.

I would also recommend looking for a accountant willing to work with you throughout the year. You want an accountant who can help you strategize and who is responsive when you want to know the consequences of the financial decisions you are making throughout the year.

Good luck.

 Hello Will! As accountants, we cannot promote ourselves as that is against BPs forum rules. Your also going to see posts that sound like "I recommend an accountant that sounds like me" which I think are not helpful. I would suggest you look at who is actively providing value in the forums to folks and reach out to one of them. Best of luck in your search!

Hi Will!

Thanks for reaching out on the forums. I would recommend the following:

1. Use the BP tool above "Build Your Team" and select an accountant specializing in your investing area. Most are active in the forums if they are accepting new clients but not alwayss.

2. Recommendations are always great if you know a fellow investor ask who they use.

3. Reach out to 5 professionals you see in the forum and they seem like they would be a good fit to work with.

Before reaching out to a professional I would recommend to determine what an ideal accountant relationship looks like to you. Do you want to work with that individual or someone from their team, is communication big, do you want just tax prep, do you want on going services, do you guys get along well together, how much do you want to invest working with someone, do they invest in real estate as well etc.

Good luck!

Hey @Will Seaman, I would definitely look into a tax professional that goes beyond tax prep.

I'm a 401k administrator and see lots of clients come in who are missing out on basic deductions and credits because the tax preparer "doesn't look up" if you know what I mean.  Some accountants simply don't have the bandwidth for it.

I have a number of contacts you could work that would be helpful.  Feel free to reach out if you'd like an intro.

@Will Seaman

I know a bunch of CPAs, though mostly based in San Diego.  Feel free to send me a message for the names if interested.
