Property Tax Increase from ADU

Brandon Ly
Posted

Greetings Bigger Pockets Community!

I'm going to be constructing an ADU on my property soon and wanted to calculate the property tax increase I should expect from the new unit.

The ADU's valuation was calculated by the county at $231,800 so is this the number I use to estimate my increase in property taxes? The property is in Los Angeles county so I figure 1.1%*$231,800 = $2,549 increase in annual property tax.

Is my estimated calculation correct or is there something I'm missing? Thanks all!

@Brandon Ly good luck with your project and your long term hold.  I, at my age, am into short term quick returns from a fix and flip business.
