Getting a loan on a property in a foreign country

Hi there. I'm a US citizen who lives in Mexico City, and I'm considering purchasing a property in Mexico City. I could obtain a real estate loan here, but interest rates are crazy high. I'm wondering if there's a way to get a loan from a US lender on a foreign property, since I'm a US citizen. I do not currently own property in the US (I've heard that one way to do this is to take out a second mortgage on another property you already own). This would be my first real estate purchase. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
