Super bowl in Tampa good or bad for the area?

I've always wondered if these types of events really do help the local real estate economy at where they're done. What is your experience?

@Jorge Vazquez Great for the economy. Brings lots of Jobs and focus to Tampa Bay. We have to keep our economy going and this is a great example. The NFL and host committees claim that the super bowl brings between $300 to $500 million to host cities. Florida also volunteered to host 2021 Olympics if Japan backs out due to COVID-19 concerns. That would put a lot of attention on Florida  as well and bring more people to the sunshine state.

Got nothing against it, but shaking down the populace to get a publicly paid-for stadium so an owner can make money is absurd.  The economic justifications they come up with border on blatant lies.

And, no, I"m not mad because the Raiders moved to LV :)

That is what the NFL claims and that is in a normal year when people travel to the city. Read this document on the ridiculous costs that the city gets saddled with to attract the super bowl.

Studies have been done on Olympic cities after the games leave and they usually conclude the expense to build out the infrastructure is not returned. Unless you end up with long term training facilities that are actually used, often the facilities sit empty.

I think Tampa is great, but all the people moving there right now has nothing to do with the Super Bowl and everything to do with COVID and how the state handled it. Pro business and low taxes, combined with climate is the winning formula.
