How important is the car I drive?

I’m definitely trying to be frugal and my goal is to live off of 10% of what I make in real estate. But I need a new car. How much would you spend on a car? And what are the best options? I have three kids but I want to look professional and I don’t want to overdo it.

Why worry about what other people think?  If they judge you based on your car, that doesn't say a lot about them.  Get something that is reliable, will last a long time and won't need a lot of repairs.  Buy something that is a few years old, not brand new.  I have a 15 year old Toyota.  Look around at some of the older cars driving around and make note of what brands they are.  Don't buy something that will only last 5 years.
