Real Estate Investing is NOT a Job!

Ibrahim Yamini
Posted

I was on a different app and the subject of being a Landlord came up.  I was shocked to see how many people kept saying it isn't a job.  As I learn more and more about real estate investing, it has taken up a significant portion of my time as I gain more knowledge in this field.

Audible was a wise investment because I've learned a lot about Wholesaling, Flipping, Managing Rental Properties, BRRRR methods, 4 square methods, Tax Strategies and so forth in a short period of time as I tried to figure out my niche. I usually have a notebook next to me as I write down pertinent information that I plan to use at a later date.

I am currently in no financial position to buy a second property comfortably right now, but I have spent over a month crafting a Business Plan as I lay down the foundation for buying my first investment property.  I might not be getting paid currently, but I know my efforts will be returned 10 fold in the future.

Yes it is investing, but it certainly sounds like a job to me.  Even though I'm in the baby stages, the comments were infuriating.

people say things like:

"all landlords do is collect rent money, that's not a job, lol".  Like the "lol" gives the comment validation.

I've never been a landlord, but I know at least 64 responsibilities landlords have even if they have a property manager.

Are people so stuck in their ways, unwilling to change their mindset that they just stay stagnated forever?

"Go to School" "Get a student loan" "Get a good job" "Pay back student loan with good job" "Stay in debt with student loans/car loans/credit cards/mortgage forever" " "pay debt down, or not" "die"

That is absolutely terrifying to me.  I am NOT comfortable in that position and for we all know, this is our only shot at life, why not make the most of it?

I feel like my eyes are being opened to a completely different world that was never secret, I just couldn't see it over the nonsense noise that has been taught to me since birth. Both my eyes and ears are opened now, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this "job" I have that doesn't exist according to the haters.

Sorry for the rant, just my thoughts of the day.
