Kitchen Remodeling Help

Hello,

Just bought a condo that needs to be updated. I currently live in it but don't plan on staying longer than a year. Afterwards, I plan on renting it out. This is my first property that I will remodel and know exactly what I want done.....I just don't know the most cost-effective way to do it.

I am taking things slowly and only want to remodel the kitchen first. I plan on replacing the outdated appliances, installing granite counter-tops, and installing new cabinets and lighting.

Does it matter if I get GE stainless steel appliances or a cheaper brand like Frigidaire? Any good website or company that sells good quality stainless steel appliances at a great price? I've come across US Appliance's website and their prices are cheaper than most places.

Also, where can I get good quality cabinets that don't cost a fortune? I almost went with Home Depot but I feel like there are much better options out there.

Thanks

It's a rental in the end. So your choices have to be "competitive" with the other rentals in the area. that is the standard that the tenants will expect. Check out what the other rentals have, and you will have your answer. If you over-improve, there's no guarantee you will get any higher rent; if you're not sufficiently improved to compete with the nearby rentals, you might have a difficult time finding tenants to take the place.
