15 Questions for Successful Real Estate Investors

I'm young and learning Real Estate as a means to get where I truly want to be career wise and in the end use it as a behind the scenes career or possible full time. So while that is the case I have a few questions that go through my mind that I wanted to ask of people who consider themselves successful or similar.

You can pick and choose which ones you answer. Honestly any answers would be great!

1. What is your main field/niche or expertise in REI?

Just a simple starter question.

2. Has real estate allowed you to live where you wanted to? As in maybe a different part of town, a different city, state, or even country?

I've read many post about people who have done real estate out of state and so I wonder if any of the difficulties with doing so has made it hard to live where you do or be able to go where you want.

3. Has doing real estate given you more time to enjoy a hobby or given you more vacation time if you compared it to employed vs self employed?

I know this can be subjective depending on the kind of work you do, but if you were to compare to before would you say you have more or less free time?

4. What do you do in between projects big or small?

I would say this question is for flippers (I'm really new so I don't know all the niche jobs), but do you do some other kind of work other than finding properties? I would like to know.

5. Has there been a few or a lot of stressful moments throughout your career?

Have there been avoidable or unavoidable situations where your pocket hit a dent or a lot of time was wasted?

6. Have you been able to buy the things you wanted over time?

I don't mean splurging money on a bunch idiotic things. I just mean buying something enjoyable for yourself every once in a blue moon like a nice car or boat or even just a pet.

7. Did you have mentor starting out? If you didn't how hard was it starting out?

I know having a mentor can be a great help, but if you didn't have one, did you go to seminars and meetings?

8. As someone starting out, what are some good questions you would ask a successful investor

When you were starting you were starting what are things you asked or wish you had asked?

9.For people who were investors while in college, would you suggest investing during or just wait till after?

If you could go back, would you have waited, or was it a good experience?

10. Were you able to take care of your family (mom, dad, and siblings)?

Has doing real estate allowed you to take care of your parents, or help a sibling out in a time of need?

11. Did you have any people or even family try to hold you back?

Did you have any people who told you it was a bad idea or that you would fail?

12. Were you able to travel when you had the time?

Sort of related to Question 3, but were you able to take a trip to a different state or country just to sightsee?

13. For people who invest as a successful side career, have you been able to balance both and live a comfortable life?

Have you been able to handle both and not be stressed? Have you been able to enjoy both?

14. How many hours a day or week do you tend to work?

Is it more or less if you compared it to a 40 hour week?

15. Can your job be boring or is each project/deal exciting to work on?

Has it become dull over time, or does each deal or project have it's own feel?

Bonus #1: When you started investing did it originally start as pocket money, but turn into a full time career?

Bonus #2: How many digits do you make per year? 5? 6? 7?!

Bonus# 3: How many savings accounts do you have?

Bonus #4:  Were taxes a pain starting off? (Are they still a pain?)

Thank you in advance!
