Building Code/Code Enforcement Questions

I have been a Building Official/Zoning Administrator for 20 plus years.  If you have questions regarding code matters feel free to reach out.  It may be another perspective you hadn't considered.  Since becoming an investor a few years ago I can appreciate both sides.

    @Nicholas W.

    Generally, someone complains.  Sometimes an inspector will drive by a project and see work occurring and the permit card is not displayed.  I have had home inspectors call about code related items.  To be fair, they generally are not correct about code issues, but have knowledge about construction.

    Actually there are two sets of standards one for new construction and one for existing buildings.  Many times people want to apply new standards to a building built 100 years ago.

    Just some insight.
