QUIT MY J-O-B!!! Rental Income > Salary = Time to Resign
I didn't see a Dave Ramsey style "I'M JOB FREE" scream forum so I picked this one.
I just concluded resignation from 18 years of salaried work in the environmental field, over a decade as a project manager. I walked away from six figures (and the meetings, travel, 9-5 cubicle, dress code, silly coworkers that should have been terminated before I was born, customers who should have been dropped when their third PO failed to materialize, annual budgets that arbitrarily increase and most importantly of all the 3% annual salary bump regardless of how much $$$ I earned the company).
Starting in 2009 I formed a company LaPlante Business Services Inc to purchase and renovate foreclosures and manage them as rental properties in Toledo, OH. I slowly and steadily grew the portfolio to the point by 2017 that it earned more than my day job and ultimately it provided the leverage for me to finally quit and focus on it full-time.
So I'd say this is Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad, Poor Dad inspired...Dave Ramsey Entreleadership lead...and...John Acuff Quitter organized. (Don't stop learning, never stop networking...the more you learn yourself the more you can give back to help others reach their goals)
I expect the future to be based upon the principles of Traction by Gino Wickman: the coming weeks will be spent organizing my business to operate more efficiently, standardize my processes, and start to focus on hiring our first full-time employees. (To date we operate with part-time folks and independent contractors)
Bigger Pockets has been a constant source of inspiration and information, I will continue to watch the site and look forward to seeing where the economy and our relationships take us!
